Library facilities for retired staff
The library offers enhanced loan and study facilities to retired members of staff.
Library resources and services include:
- Journals
- Subject librarians
- Subject specific online resources
- Inter-library loans
A library PIN is required to access library online resources both on and off campus. For example:
- Exam papers
- Your account
- Renew and request books
you can set up your pin online or you can contact a member of staff for help.
Library catalogue
Using the library web catalogue you can check what books, journals, DVDs, student projects etc. the library holds. It tells you whether an item is in stock, if it is on loan, how many copies are available and where it is shelved.
Borrowing entitlements
- General collection—20 items for 6 weeks
- Short loan/reference/theses collection—cannot be borrowed
- 2 DVDs —3 days
Items may be renewed twice.
Journals
The library has a collection of more than 200 print journals and also provides access to over 9000 electronic journals or e-journals. A listing of all our journals in print is available by browsing title(s) from the alphabetical listingWifi Access
External users can apply to be set up with wifi access when in the Library. It takes about two weeks after they hand in the application. Contact the library
Subject librarians
Subject specific guides and resources are available through the library website. These guides are maintained by a subject librarian. You can access them using the links below:
If you wish to suggest the addition of resources please contact the subject librarian for the relevant subject.
Subject Librarians can assist you with your Research, particularly in terms of search strategies and with identifying appropriate information sources relevant to your subject.
Inter library loans
Materials not held in our own library may be requested through our inter-library loans service.
This material may be requested online from the library homepage by clicking on inter library loans page.
Select the appropriate type of material e.g book, article and fill out the details on the form accurately.
The website will search a number of library online resources as well as ITT Dublin library catalogue and the catalogue of all other Institutes of Technology.
If the material is available you will be guided to where it is located, otherwise the results will indicate availability in other libraries, there will be a link to search the internet and finally you will be prompted to submit an ILL form.
You will require your library PIN before you can submit an inter library loan.

Planning and producing theses and dissertations
Get a feel for previous work done in your field by looking at the theses available in the library. You will find student projects, dissertations and theses in the reference area of the library, these are available for library use only. The library has a number of guides on research and thesis production. Please consult the library catalogue for further details on specific titles.

When producing your research work, you should adhere to a particular writing style. Please liaise with your department to see which style they use. Please ensure you consult our writing styles guide on this website.
