Guide to Library Self Issue Machine

Introduction

The library has a self service centre located at the library desk just beside the entrance / exit. This is a machine where you can take out and bring back books yourself, without having to deal with library staff.

Using the self service centre

To issue / check out items

  • Select your language
  • Press borrow on the screen
  • Scan your library card with the barcode facing upwards toward the red beam on the machine
  • Open the front cover of the item you want to take out
  • Slowly slide the item with barcode facing upwards under the red beam
  • Listen for the beep
  • Repeat for each item separately
  • You can chose whether to take a receipt with the item's due back/checked-in date

To return items

  • Press the return button
  • Open the front cover of the item you want to check in
  • Place the item/s barcode under the red beam
  • Listen for the beep
  • Repeat for each item separately
  • Press quit when you are finished
  • Collect your receipt to show that you have successfully returned the item/s.
  • Place the returned item in the book return bin to the right.

Library staff are available to assist you should you need any help with any of the above.

Self Service Opening Hours

The self service centre is open while the library is open. Normal term time hours are:

  • Mon—Thurs: 8.00-21.00
  • Fri: 08.00-17.00
  • Sat: 10.00-13.00

Please note that you cannot borrow short loan items or any items held behind the library desk via the self service centre.
