FAQ's
- How do I get permission to visit other academic libraries ?
ITT Dublin students and staff can visit the libraries at IT Blanchardstown and DIT by producing their ITT Dublin ID cards.
They may use the study spaces and print materials at any of the libraries for reference purposes. Whilst there, they may also access ITT Dublin online library resources by connecting to the Eduroam service on their own mobile device, laptop, mobile phone etc. and logging on to the ITT Dublin library site
Books cannot be borrowed and libraries may have to refuse admission during busy times (such as exams) but that will be kept to a minimum.
Letters of admission to libraries not included in this scheme can be requested at the library desk. A letter allows you access another library on a specified day to consult resources in your subject area.
- I have received an email asking me to return my book to the library before the due date. Why?
If another library patron has placed a hold on a book that you currently have on loan your due date is reduced to the standard guaranteed check out time of one week to allow the other patron to access the book in a reasonable time frame. This is to ensure equity for all library patrons.
- Why haven't I received any e-mails from the library?
There is a facility on your Moodle profile page where you can update the mail address you wish to use for receiving mail communication from the Institute. It is your responsibility to ensure that you provide a valid mail address and that you check it regularly to ensure that you don’t miss out on important communications from the Institute.
The library only sends e-mail reminders about items checked out to you, about over due items, items being held for you, and recalled items to this email address. See Using the student e-mail system.
- I received a bill for my checked out items. Why?
When books on your record are overdue you will receive a notice by email or by post to inform you that your books are overdue. Once you have received 4 notices and the books have still not been returned you will be sent a bill for the overdue items. If you return the books you will not have to pay the bill but you may have restrictions for a time on your library record. If you do not return the books you will be liable for the cost of replacement as specified in the bill.
- I would like to book a research consultation with my subject librarian
